The Eton Fives Charitable Trust

Chairman's Report
2005-2006

During the year the Trustees agreed the format for a further appeal for funds.

The considerable enthusiasm in schools prompted by the visits and attentions of the Chairman and the Coaching Agency has called for financial support from the Trust which we have been pleased to give, thanks to the continuing contributions of a few donors from our last appeal 10 years ago.

But if this support is going to continue, and especially to reflect the ambitious strategies being pursued by the EFA Board, we must invite all past and present members of the Association to make a contribution.

We know there are many demands on your resources; we understand there are limits to what you can do to help. But even small, regular contributions, helped by Gift Aid, mount up to a very useful annual total and I ask each one of you to join the list of donors and complete the mandate sent to you with this year’s Annual.

A full programme of court renovation at Shrewsbury called for a grant of £4,000 and there was some support for coaching at Westway, as you see in the Accounts; and 2006 is already a busy year for the Trust with worthy applications from St Bees, St Bartholomew’s Newbury and Emanuel School demanding our attention.

With your help all these court initiatives and the vital coaching support that ensures that the investment is productive, will be willingly and generously met by your Trust. In partnership with all of you who have or are still enjoying the game of Eton Fives, who knows what we may accomplish in the years to come.

As you may imagine, the Trust could not operate without the time and expertise offered by the Trustees and I thank them on your behalf, especially our Secretary and Treasurer, upon whom the burden of administration and financial reporting falls, for which they make no charge. We also acknowledge gratefully the help of Nick Jones as Honorary Inspector/Auditor of our Accounts.

(Editor's Note: the report included Legacies)
