As announced in last year’s Report, your Trust has been actively seeking new funding from you over the past months to meet the ambitious programmes of court development and coaching being pursued by the EFA Board. Launched in the autumn of 2006 the Appeal has raised £48,000 at the time of writing and we have hopes that the large number of members who have not so far committed themselves, will be persuaded to do so by reading about the many imaginative and purposeful uses to which our funds have been put over the last 13 years. Last year alone £11,000 was granted to 8 worthy causes including Emanuel School, QE Barnet, St Bartholomews Newbury,St Bees and RGS High Wycombe and that fresh impetus continues this year. These Grants greatly exceeded income in the year, as you may see from the Accounts, and our Appeal is set to refill our dwindling coffers and provide an endowment for further investment in facilities and coaching support.
I urge you all to make some contribution, however small, to help us ensure the future of the game in the face of so many other sport and leisure options.
The burden of the Appeal has largely fallen on the Appeal Cte of the Trust and we have to give special thanks to Dale Vargas and Derek Whitehead for all their work. Our Treasurer John Rimer has again found time to provide us with a superb service both in accounting and treasury and in handling the complicated options available to supporters of the Appeal. We owe him our very special thanks.
During the year we were fortunate to secure the services of John Batting as a Trustee. An Harrovian ex-Captain of Cambridge EFC, John is a Senior Partner in a Legal Practice in the City and brings fresh and uptodate views to our deliberations. We welcome him and thank him and all Trustees for the generous gift of their time and expertise.
