The Eton Fives Charitable Trust

Chairman's Report
2007-2008

All members and other interested parties will have received our invitation to a Reception on October 6th at the RAC on Pall Mall sponsored by our financial advisers Rensburg Sheppards and I do hope you will join us there. We want to take that opportunity to thank all those who have donated to the future of Eton Fives in our recent Appeal and of course to encourage those, who have not yet got round to it, to pledge a contribution, however small, to the cause of the game that has given them pleasure and recreation over the years, often at very little cost. This will be a chance to meet old friends, hear the result of the Appeal so far and exchange ideas for the future with EFA Board members and Trustees; It won't be so good without you.

This year has been one of active fundraising and we are especially grateful to all those whose playing days are over but who have shared in our vision of the game's future and wanted to support the EFA strategies for rejuvenation, coaching and extension into the community.

Our support has been given to Wolverhampton GS for coaching to revive the game there, to Repton to help with refurbishment prior to the Midlands Tournament there and to other schools for travel and participation by students in national competitions. We continue to share the EFA's coaching bill where it meets our mandate for the under 18's or those in full-time education.

This and other financial information is contained in the excellent annual report prepared by John Rimer, a short form of which is contained in this Review.

As usual we all owe a debt to the Trustees who give up their valuable time and expertise without remuneration or repayment of expenses. The Appeal Committee of Dale Vargas, Richard Black,John Rimer and Derek Whitehead deserve special thanks this year.

We all look forward to seeing you at the RAC in October.

R.M.K.
