Much as I would like to, looking through the results of last season I cannot claim that the Jesters had a successful year! The record of P36, W10, L24, D2 speaks for itself. However, the club did notch up a number of achievements over the last year. We refocused to some extent our fixture list and successfully competed in the Friendly Fives Initiative at Westway. This allowed us to get a greater number of Jesters playing than in the past and to widen the player base. Again we were able to promote the game in a number of schools and be entertained in a wide variety of locations.
The hub of the club remains concentrated in and around London but some the longest standing and best organised games are found elsewhere. In the year ahead we will seek to support all locations and encourage new venues. For example, the lack of a ‘Northern’ game in the fixture list is a sadness especially as the club for many years played at St Bees.
In addition, with the ‘slimming down’ of the EFA League the club has an important role to play in the friendly (if competitive!) fives arena.
I would encourage all Jesters who would like to play or are prepared to put up a side to contact me. The club now caters for all levels of ability.
