EFA End of Season Dinner
The evening of the 7th May witnessed a splendid EFA Dinner at Bekynton, courtesy of Mark Williams and the College, and ably organised as ever by Michael Constantinidi. Over 40 guests were in attendance to enjoy the excellent meal, the free flowing wine and good company.
Richard Barber, Chairman of the EFA, outlined recent achievements of the Association and in particular the good work done by those involved in bringing the Fives Courts at St Bartholomew's School Newbury back into use. He looked for full support from those in the game to provide the continuing momentum in meeting the Board's strategic aims. A special mention was made of the forthcoming Charitable Trust Appeal and that full support of the membership would be required to meet the future aspirations of the Eton Fives Trust and the EFA Board. He closed his speech with a presentation to Mike Fenn of a cup engraved 'Mike Fenn The Kinnaird Cup 40 Years' to Mark Mike's 40th consecutive year playing in the National Championships. Mark Williams brought the evening to a conclusion with presentation of the Cups and Trophies to the 2005-2006 Tournament winners.
EFA Club Secretaries Dinner
There were some 25 Club representatives at the Secretaries Dinner in May held at Bekynton, Eton. After an excellent meal Richard Barber chaired a discussion on the responsibilities of a Secretary and the difficulties faced by them in managing a Club. A lively debate on the merits of the league and the ladder and their interface with one another brought the evening to a close. It is planned in due course to publish a finite guidance on the responsibilities of a Secretary. In the meantime those wishing to find out more should contact their Club Secretary.
