In keeping with our policy of bringing Eton Fives into the twentieth century and increasing our player base one of our number (Jon Wallis) came out with the revolutionary idea of putting Eton Fives on the Net.
The Internet, or just the Net, as it is commonly known, is a vast, chaotic, collection of computers all over the world which are open to access from anyone's home computer. As many of you have no doubt read, the Internet and the information super-highway, is being heralded as the future of communication. It may sound incongruous that Eton Fives, an extremely old and traditional game should want a foothold on the Information Super-highway but if we are to encourage the School and University players to our sport the Internet seemed as good a place as any to advertise and provide information.
Currently Jon has very kindly provided a "home-page" on his own account. For those who want to surf the Net immediately to find this marvel the address is http://www.etonfives.co.uk - just point your browser and go and you will find a copy of last year's brochure replete with emblems and useful information.
There is no reason, however, that we should restrict ourselves to the annual booklet, although this year's copy will soon be on, and we would very much like to receive any articles or other information that our Members would like to see. Similarly if anyone would like to discuss any other ideas or would like a demonstration then do contact either Jon or I. Our numbers are in the book!
