The Association made a loss of £3,940 during the year.
The main reason for this loss is the cost of coaching fees of £13,012 (2002: £6,586) which was significantly higher than last year due to the appointment of a full time coach at Westway. Half the cost of this coaching and coaching at schools is refunded to the Association by the Eton Fives Charitable Trust. The cost of coaching at Westway will continue to be high next year but is expected ultimately to be self-financing.
To recover some of this loss and to fund future coaching and development by the Eton and Rugby Fives coaching agency, it has been resolved to increase the subscription for individual members from £15 to £20 with effect from 1 July 2004.
HSBC Insurance brokers again sponsored the Schools Championships in the sum of £1,500. We continue to be indebted to them for this and for the excellent evening’s entertainment of the Bursars and Masters-in-charge of Fives which was hosted at Eton this year.
All revenues from the sale of coaching manuals continue to be offset against the cost of stocks held.
Please contact myself or our Chairman, if you have any ideas or suggestions about sponsorship of our activities.
