The Association made a loss of £3,241 (2005 - profit £4,074) during the period.
HSBC Insurance Brokers again sponsored the Schools Championships. This year they geneously increased their sponsorship from £1,500 to £5,000. We continue to be indebted to them for this and for the excellent evening’s entertainment of the Bursars and Masters in charge of Fives which was hosted at the new Dorney Lake rowing centre near Eton this year. We look forward to continuing close relations with HSBC.
A £2,000 grant was given to Shrewsbury School to supplement the gift from the Eton Fives Charitable Trust towards the major refurbishment of their courts. Shrewsbury has been a bastion for Eton Fives for many years and will continue to be the major northern venue for theSchools Championship every three years.
In addition, the Association looked at different proposals for internet based club and competition management systems. Born out of the idea of the ladder competition, Ed Taylor, an EFA member, embarked on a project to develop a new website which would initially manage the ladder but which could be developed into a database of players and provide players with a internet based facility for knowing the details of what fives is being played in their area and by their club. The initial spend in this period on this project has been £6,302 and phase one of the project is expected to be completed in time for the start of next season.
All revenues from the sale of coaching manuals continue to be offset against the cost of stocks held.
Please contact myself or Richard Barber, our Chairman, if you have any ideas or suggestions about sponsorship of our activities or for advertising in the annual report.
