The Association made a profit after tax of £7,963 (2007:£1,460) for the year. This is a larger profit than expected due to the delay in implementing stage two of the website development.
HSBC Insurance Brokers again sponsored the Schools Championships. This year they maintained their generous sponsorship at £5,000. We continue to be indebted to them for this and for the excellent evening’s entertainment of the Bursars and Masters in charge of Fives which was hosted at Shrewsbury this year. We look forward to continuing close relations with HSBC.
A £5,000 grant was generously given by the Jesters. This is to be spent over a period on Universities and Under 25s competitions and on website development. The Eton Fives Charitable Trust continued to subsidise 50% of the Association’s coaching costs at schools.
Stage two of the fives-on-line website implementation will take place in the financial year to 30 April 2009 which is expected to include the posting of fixture lists on to the website and a facility for signing up for fixtures and tournaments with email alerts.
The Treasury Stock matured during the year leaving the Association at the end of the financial year with cash on deposit at the bank. It is envisaged that surplus funds will be invested in a further Treasury Stock, cash unit trust and a small spread of investment trusts.
All revenues from the sale of coaching manuals continue to be offset against the cost of stocks held.
Please contact myself or Richard Barber, our Chairman, if you have any ideas or suggestions about sponsorship of our activities or for advertising in the annual report.
