In terms of “hits” (a rather crude measure of website activity, but always an attention-grabbing ‘headline’ figure), the EFA site racked up close to half-a-million in the twelve months from May 2007 – April 2008. The huge spike in October 2007 – more than twice the hits of some other months in the same year – remains something of a mystery.
'Hits' and Unique visitors to the EFA SiteImpressive though the totals can be, the overall hits could come from a huge number of people visiting once or twice, or a few die-hard Fives-obsessives, visiting day and night. Or, hopefully, something in between!
To find out, the number of ‘unique visitors’ to the site (usually just abbreviated to UVs) is a measure of the individual people using the site. Allied to the separate ‘visits’ made to the site, it gives an indication of how many users you have, and how much they visit. The EFA site has been averaging just over 3000 unique visitors, and just over 4600 visits, a month over the year to the end of April 2008, which suggests a healthy population of regular users.
Regularly in the top five ‘most popular pages’ on the EFA site have been ‘Latest News’, ‘About Fives, and the Picture Gallery, with both League & Tournament result0073 changing positions depending on what’s just been played.
And consistently the most viewed single photograph on the site is that of the original fives court at the bottom of the steps of Eton College chapel - www.etonfives.co.uk/pictures/etonandharrow/original.court.html
Thanks, as ever, to Mike Fenn, but also to everyone who uses the EFA site, ‘regulars’ and newcomers alike – after all, without them, there wouldn’t be much point having a site!
