The Association made a profit after tax of £4,101 (2008:£7,963) for the year.
HSBC Insurance Brokers again sponsored the National Schools’ Championships. This year they maintained their generous sponsorship and paid £15,000 to cover their sponsorship of the Championships for the next three years. This was particularly welcome in the current financial climate. The excellent evening’s entertainment of the Bursars and Masters in Charge of Fives was again sponsored by HSBC and held at Eton this year after a record entry to this competition. We look forward to continuing close relations with HSBC.
Of the £5,000 grant given by the Jesters last year, £2,500 was spent on the latest phase of development of the website which is being rolled out for the coming season. The Eton Fives Charitable Trust continued to subsidise 50% of the Association’s coaching costs at schools and in particular this year at King Edward’s School for Girls.
The Association has entered into an agreement with the Westway Sports Centre in Kensington to help support a full time person dedicated to Eton Fives at the Centre who would develop Fives in the local community. This support is funded by the Eton Fives Charitable Trust together with the Association.
The Treasury Stock matured during the year leaving the Association at the end of the financial year with cash on deposit at the bank and in a cash unit trust.
Please contact myself or Richard Barber, our Chairman, if you have any ideas or suggestions about sponsorship of our activities or for advertising in the annual report.
