This year we have made significant progress strengthening and broadening the online facilities available to our Fives-playing community. The capabilities of the FivesOnline website have been expanded to allow individual clubs to use the system for match management and fixture arranging and a presentation showing how this would work was made at the Secretaries’ meeting for the benefit of all club organisers.
In parallel, the EFA website is being updated and a new Fives portal being created for all things Fives in co-operation with the RFA and the CFA. The idea behind the Fives portal is to provide a single point of reference for everything you want to know or do relating to Fives. There are also now several Fives-related groups on Facebook (see page 102) and it is hoped that we will be able to link these into the portal.
Including as it will contact details, match fixtures, news, commentary and archives, there does not seem to be much you cannot do through the planned new portal, but if you have any suggestions for additional content, then please forward them to Nick Bunyan, who is co-ordinating this project on behalf of the EFA.
If all goes according to plan then the portal and the new facilities will all be in place for the start of the 2009-2010 season, so keep your fingers crossed!
