The inaugural Under 14 Tournament for beginners, organised by Ian Hutchinson, was held at Charterhouse on 1st February 1987. Five schools took part - Queen Elizabeth Barnet (8 pairs), Mill Hill (3 pairs), Belmont (2 pairs), High Wycombe (1.5! pairs), Westminster (3 pairs) and the home team Charterhouse (3 pairs).
After a gap of six years the Tournament was once again held during the 2007-2008 season but at the new venue of Charterhouse. The initiative to bring back the Southern Schools' was mainly down to Howard Wiseman and John Troy Master-in-charge of Fives at Charterhouse.
