Sunday 11th March - Charterhouse
On a gloriously cloudy wet day players from Aldenham, QEB Belmont & Charterhouse descended to Charterhouse School for the 14th year of this particular competition. The pool matches went according to plan and produced some excellent quarter-final games. Belmont 1 and Aldenham 1 were the first semi-finalists with Belmont 2 and Queen Elizabeth Barnet 1 the other. In the first semi-final both pairs were evenly matched and it was only at the very end that Aldenham 1 scraped home 12-9.
The second semi-final was even closer, producing some excellent Fives, with the final score being 12-10 to QEB 1.
Unfortunately the final was a slight disappointment as a few nerves were shown by QEB 1 and Aldenham ran out comfortable winners. The two Belmont pairs battled it out for 3rd and 4th places with the first pair winning 14-11 after an epic battle. Belmont 3 went on to win Plate A competition and Belmont 6 Plate B competition.
Much fun was had by all. Many thanks to Nigel Wray and Saracens for his continuing support for this event and also to Giles Gergaud.
