A surprisingly sunny February Sunday saw entries from Queen Elizabeth Barnet, Mill Hill, Aldenham and Berkhamsted to contest in this year’s tournament. Based on a round robin tournament – first to fifteen points, the overall standard of fives was very good and there was marked improvement among some players throughout the day, particularly a young Queen Elizabeth Barnet pair.
The final was contested between Mill Hill & Berkhamsted with Mill Hill taking a lead towards the end. They were only thwarted by perhaps, lack of conviction with Berkhamsted eventually winning 15–13.
Many prizes were distributed on the day and special thanks must be given to Saracens and Nigel Wray for donating the prizes and contributing towards the magnificent lunch!
My thanks also to David Gooderick for his help on the day and I look forward to another eventful tournament next year.
