There were four teams contesting the competition this year: Highgate, Eton, Shrewsbury and St Olave’s. Each team of three pairs played a best of three games match against each of the other schools, scoring one match point for each game won. The standard and level of competition was high, with Highgate, Eton and Shrewsbury very evenly matched and St Olave’s making a crucial contribution to the outcome.

1) Highgate 13 pts
2) Eton 12 pts
3) Shrewsbury 12 pts
4) St Olave’s 2 pts
In the first two rounds, Eton narrowly won two close contests against Highgate and Shrewsbury, including both first pairs. Going into the third round, Eton needed to beat St Olave’s 6-0 to ensure victory, but crucially dropped the second pair. Highgate then won the deciding match against Shrewsbury, with the second pair winning a set third game.
